libra season is the enchanting, deeply honest debut of suprihmbé. This vulnerable mixtape of prose and spoken word reveals a young woman’s sexual awakening, blossoming through the desert of childhood abuse into life on her own terms. Culminating in magic and metaphor, this proheaux womanists’ unfinished journey from fear into peace is riveting. An odyssey through sex, loss, and painful self-awareness through the eyes of sensitive stone goddesses, vulnerable dragons, traumatized witches, and curious nymphettes, libra season gives us a glimpse into a queer Black woman’s grieving-and-healing process.

"This book is one of the most emotional, thought-provoking poetry/prose combinations I've ever read! The page set-up, aesthetics of the cover pages, and writing style all compliment the next so much... I was brought to tears, laughter, and found myself consistently sharing excerpts with those around me."

- First of all the cover art is absolutely stunning, but that’s nothing in comparison to the depths of emotion contained within. Truly an amazing transformational journey spanning so many facets of the authors experience in unique and simultaneously ethereal and sobering ways. The author is truly an artist and has earned every ounce of credit for all she’s done for herself and her community. She deserves all the support in the world and it’s clear she has no shortage of talent and drive.
In short order it. You won’t regret it!! - I'm a poet myself, and it's rare I find a poet whose voice resonates with my own as much as hers. My partner and I read this out loud to each other, and this book made me sweat and cackle and it made us pause and look at each other startled on more than one occasion. She talks about a unique human experience in a shockingly relatable way; she clearly *gets it* in a way that makes you feel both seen and like you can see. I recommend this book even more highly than I would recommend most of the classics. If you're at all interested in poetry, read this book. <3
- Wow. I cannot give a more glowing review. The author carefully curated an entire multi-media experience through this piece of art. The themes of womanhood relationships and humanity intertwined to evoke a powerful sense of what being means to the author. I whole heartedly recommend this book. Worth every penny and more
- I'm honestly speechless. I read the book about a week ago and I've been sitting with the poems and stories since then. I've had to really take time to digest and process the work because even though I read it in just a few hours, it hasn't left my brain-space or heart for a moment since. Suprihmbé opened up her soul and poured it out into this amazing piece that has had me just absolutely enamored.
Get this book. You need to experience it. - I truly don't have the words to express how much I enjoyed this poetry. I have read it cover to cover three times now, and each time I feel like I understand more about the author and myself
- This book is one of the most emotional, thought-provoking poetry/prose combinations I've ever read! The page set-up, aesthetics of the cover pages, and writing style all compliment the next so much... I was brought to tears, laughter, and found myself consistently sharing excerpts with those around me.
- Cover art is gorgeous. I liked the font choices and formatting. Beautiful imagery in the poems. Personal favorites were Epiphany, Cult of Unbotheredness, Becoming (the Dragon's Daughter), and A Date & A Dragon. Enjoyed the blending of fantasy imagery and AAVE
- A beautiful exploration of self-empowerment and reclamation with colorful combinations of lyrical lines and thoughtful metaphor.
